I've been meaning to tell you
I've been meaning to let you know
That I've been falling apart
I've been digging a hole or two
and I'll keep digging till I get to you
Though I don't think I've thought this through
either the walls come caving in, and trap this earth around me
or I'll break through and find myself the victim of my pity
Lackluster circumstance beyond my comprehension
at the time I thought what mattered was the strength of my intentions
but I couldn't get my head above the water to keep breathing
found comfort in the fact that every thought of you was fleeting
I dreamt that they found my corpse in a house with old bay windows and a blood-stained door
my eyes were open wide with fear, like all the strength within me
gathered my last breath and then made sure that i died screaming
Wouldn't have it any other way
wouldn't change it if I could
The sky's looking pretty clear today
dropped the weight of my world, but I'm good
I'll make mistakes and then I'll struggle to forgive myself
and you can offer but just know that I'll refuse your help
It's not like you'd believe me if I tell you that I'm fine
Got my eyes fixed on the road ahead, but my heart is stuck somewhere back in time
Do you ever find your weakness overcomes your strength?
If you put your heart out on the line, could you come back from the brink?
I'd like to think I could but know I probably couldn't
yet I'll ignore the voice inside that tells me that I shouldn't
Oh no, crudely drawn pentagrams and cigarettes
visions of sacrifices we'd regret
there's reasons why these demons always haunt us through the night
we have no strength to count on, and I'm so terrified
I dreamt that the sun exploded and the earth, consumed with hellfire, went down in flames
I used to think that when the end came I'd be willing
but words cannot express the sense of peace that I was feeling
Wouldn't have it any other way
wouldn't change it if I could
the sky's looking pretty clear today
dropped the weight of my world but I'm good
